The LT1963AEQ#PBF from Analog Devices is a 1.5A low-noise LDO regulator designed for noise-sensitive RF and precision analog applications. With only 40µVrms output noise and >60dB PSRR at 1kHz, it provides an exceptionally clean power rail that eliminates the need for additional filtering. The 340mV dropout voltage at 1.5A allows efficient operation from a 3.3V input to a 2.5V output. The wide 1.8V-20V input range and stable operation with ceramic capacitors make it versatile for a wide range of post-regulation and noise-critical power supply applications.

The LT1963AEQ#PBF uses a single NPN pass transistor in an emitter-follower configuration with a high-gain error amplifier. The NPN pass element provides low output impedance and fast transient response, making the device inherently stable with ceramic output capacitors (unlike PMOS-pass LDOs that often require ESR). The error amplifier compares the feedback voltage with an internal bandgap reference, driving the base of the NPN pass transistor to maintain regulation. The noise performance is achieved through a low-noise bandgap reference with optional external capacitor filtering (BYP pin), which reduces reference noise to negligible levels. The 1mA quiescent current includes all internal bias and error amplifier current.
