Power Management ICs (PMICs) are specialized integrated circuits for handling power in electronic devices. They combine various functions to convert input power into suitable voltages, monitor, regulate, and protect power supplies for stable device operation.
PMICs perform voltage conversion and regulation. DC – DC converters efficiently generate multiple voltages for different modules, like in a phone. LDOs offer low – noise, stable power for sensitive circuits. In battery charging, they control and protect the process, adjusting modes based on battery state and preventing issues like over – charging. PMICs also monitor and safeguard power, detecting voltage and current anomalies to prevent damage. Additionally, they manage power switching between sources and implement dynamic power management to cut power consumption, adapting to device states for longer battery life.
