The TH8056KDC-AAA-014-RE from Melexis is an AEC-Q100 qualified LIN transceiver designed for automotive in-vehicle networking. Compliant with LIN 2.0, LIN 2.1, and ISO 17987-4 standards, it provides reliable single-wire communication at up to 20kbps. The device features a 10µA sleep mode for minimal battery drain in always-connected vehicle systems, with wake-up capability via the LIN bus or a local wake pin. The SOIC-8 package provides a compact footprint for space-constrained ECU modules.

The TH8056KDC-AAA-014-RE operates as a LIN bus transceiver, converting between the MCU’s UART logic signals and the LIN bus single-wire differential signaling. In normal mode, the transmitter converts the TXD logic input to a LIN bus voltage level (dominant = 0V, recessive = VBAT through pull-up), while the receiver converts the LIN bus state back to RXD logic output. The device supports three operating modes: Normal (active communication), Sleep (ultra-low 10µA current, LIN bus monitoring), and Standby (wake-up pending, RXD active). Wake-up from Sleep can be triggered by a dominant state on the LIN bus or by a local wake pin, allowing the ECU to remain powered down until communication is required.
