The XTR101AP from Texas Instruments is a precision 4-20mA two-wire current loop transmitter with on-chip instrumentation amplifier. It converts low-level sensor signals (0-1V) into standard 4-20mA current loop output. Two on-chip 1mA current sources provide sensor excitation for RTDs or bridges. The two-wire loop-powered design means the signal and power share the same pair, simplifying remote sensor installations.

The XTR101 contains an instrumentation amplifier that amplifies the differential input voltage. The amplified signal drives a voltage-to-current converter that modulates the loop current between 4mA (zero input) and 20mA (full-scale). Two 1mA precision current sources can be used for sensor excitation (RTD, bridge). External resistors set the span and zero. The entire circuit is powered from the loop supply, drawing 4-20mA total.
