The TLE4921-5U from Infineon is a dynamic differential Hall effect sensor for rotational speed detection of ferromagnetic toothed wheels in automotive applications. Two Hall probes spaced 2.5mm apart detect the differential magnetic field, with an active high-pass filter (external capacitor) removing static offset. The open-collector output provides a digital frequency signal proportional to rotational speed. Protection includes overvoltage, reverse polarity, and output disturbance immunity per ISO 7637.

Two Hall probes detect the differential field from a passing toothed wheel. The differential signal is amplified and filtered through an active high-pass (external capacitor on pin C sets cutoff). A Schmitt trigger converts the filtered signal to a digital output. Dynamic offset compensation eliminates static magnetic field effects.
