The PM8834TR from STMicroelectronics is a dual low-side gate driver designed to drive two N-channel MOSFETs or IGBTs. Each channel provides 4A peak output current with 50ns propagation delay, enabling efficient switching in power conversion applications. Independent enable pins and TTL/CMOS compatible inputs with hysteresis offer flexible control. UVLO protection prevents operation at insufficient bias voltage. The SOIC-8 package provides a compact solution for space-constrained designs.

The PM8834TR consists of two independent gate driver channels, each with an input buffer with hysteresis, level shifter, and a high-current output stage. The input logic signals are level-shifted to the driver supply voltage domain. The output stage uses complementary MOSFETs to source and sink current to the gate of the external power switch. The 4A peak drive capability ensures fast charging and discharging of the power MOSFET gate capacitance, minimizing switching losses. Each channel has an independent enable pin that forces the output low when disabled. The UVLO circuit holds the outputs low until the bias supply exceeds the threshold voltage.
