The device integrates two 24-bit Sigma-Delta ADCs for simultaneous voltage and current sampling at 8 kHz, along with digital signal processing for energy computation. It supports both shunt resistor and current transformer (CT) current sensing methods. The SPI interface provides register-based access to all measurement data, including instantaneous voltage, current, active power, reactive power, apparent power, and energy accumulation registers. Additional features include zero-crossing detection, voltage sag detection, and active power crest factor measurement.

The ADE7953 operates by continuously sampling the line voltage and load current through its two 24-bit Sigma-Delta ADCs.
