The STM32F407VET6 from STMicroelectronics is a mainstream high-performance microcontroller based on the ARM Cortex-M4F 32-bit RISC core, capable of operating at frequencies up to 168 MHz. The Cortex-M4F core features a single-precision floating-point unit (FPU) supporting all IEEE 754 single-precision data-processing instructions and data types, along with a full set of DSP instructions and a Memory Protection Unit (MPU). The device incorporates 512 KB of Flash memory, 192 KB of SRAM organized as 112 KB SRAM1 + 16 KB SRAM2 + 64 KB CCM (Core-Coupled Memory) data RAM, and 4 KB of backup SRAM. The rich peripheral suite includes three 12-bit ADCs, two 12-bit DACs, up to 17 timers, multiple communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, USART, UART, CAN, SDIO), a 10/100 Ethernet MAC, dual USB OTG controllers, and an 8- to 14-bit camera interface.

The STM32F407VET6 is built around the ARM Cortex-M4F processor core with an Adaptive Real-Time (ART) Accelerator that allows 0-wait-state execution from Flash memory at the full 168 MHz clock rate. The ART Accelerator uses an instruction cache, a branch cache, and a literal pool cache to eliminate the wait states typically required when running from Flash at high frequencies. The memory subsystem features a multi-AHB bus matrix connecting the CPU, DMA controllers, and peripherals through three AHB buses and two APB buses, enabling concurrent access to different memory and peripheral regions. The 64 KB CCM RAM is directly coupled to the CPU via the I-bus and D-bus, providing zero-wait-state access for time-critical code and data, but cannot be accessed by DMA. The Ethernet MAC includes a dedicated DMA controller and supports IEEE 1588v2 precision time protocol for synchronized networked applications.
