The B32923C3474M from TDK is an X2 safety-rated EMI suppression capacitor, 0.47uF 305VAC, for RFI filtering across AC power lines.

The B32923C3474M is an X2-class EMI suppression film capacitor from TDK/EPCOS in a box-style package, rated 0.47uF at 305VAC. X2 capacitors are specifically designed for across-the-line EMI filtering in AC mains applications. They are constructed with metallized polypropylene film: a thin aluminum layer (approximately 20nm) is vacuum-deposited onto the polypropylene dielectric. The self-healing property is critical for safety: if a dielectric breakdown occurs (voltage spike, manufacturing defect), the arc vaporizes the thin metallization around the fault, isolating the defect and restoring insulation. This prevents catastrophic short-circuit failure that could cause fire. The X2 rating (IEC 60384-14) means the capacitor can withstand impulse voltages of 2.5kV and is suitable for applications where failure would not cause electric shock (across-the-line, not line-to-ground). The capacitance value of 0.47uF provides low impedance at 50/60Hz and harmonics, attenuating conducted EMI from switching power supplies and motor drives. The 305VAC rating covers 230VAC mains with margin.
