The A6217KLJTR-T from Allegro MicroSystems is an automotive-grade constant-current buck LED driver capable of delivering up to 3A output. It integrates a high-side N-channel DMOS switch and uses cycle-by-cycle controlled on-time for true average current regulation. PWM dimming is achieved through the enable pin. Frequency dithering reduces EMI. AEC-Q100 qualified with comprehensive fault protection including UVLO, thermal shutdown, and current limit.

The A6217 uses a controlled on-time buck topology. The integrated DMOS switch is turned on for a period proportional to VOUT/VIN, then turned off. Output current is sensed through an external resistor and regulated by adjusting on-time. PWM dimming toggles the enable pin to set average LED current. The dithering feature varies switching frequency ±5% to spread EMI spectrum.
