The STM8S003F3P6TR from STMicroelectronics is an ultra-low-cost 8-bit microcontroller from the STM8S Access line in a 20-pin TSSOP package. The suffix decodes as: F3=8KB Flash/1KB RAM/128B EEPROM variant, P=TSSOP-20 package, 6=-40 to +85C industrial temperature, TR=tape and reel. Running at 16MHz with an internal RC oscillator, it provides 8KB Flash, 1KB SRAM, and 128 bytes of true EEPROM (with 100k erase/write cycle endurance). The STM8S003F3 operates through four subsystems: (1) STM8 Core: An 8-bit Harvard architecture CPU with a 3-stage pipeline, executing most instructions in 1-2 cycles. At 16MHz, it delivers approximately 10 MIPS. The instruction set supports efficient C code generation with 20 addressing modes. (2) Memory: 8KB Flash for program storage with read/write protection, 1KB SRAM for data and stack, and 128 bytes of true EEPROM for non-volatile parameter storage. The EEPROM supports byte-level erase/write with 100k cycle endurance. (3) Peripherals: A 10-bit successive approximation ADC with 5 multiplexed input channels and conversion times as fast as 3.5us. A 16-bit advanced control timer with PWM, capture/compare, and break inputs for motor control. Communication via UART (up to 1Mbps), SPI (up to 8MHz), and I2C (up to 400kHz). (4) Clock System: A factory-calibrated 16MHz internal RC oscillator (±1% accuracy at 25C) eliminates the need for an external crystal. An internal 128kHz LSI provides a low-speed clock source.
