The STM32F091VCT6 from STMicroelectronics is a mainstream ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller in a 100-pin LQFP package. The suffix decodes as: VC=100-pin LQFP, T=LQFP package, 6=-40 to +85C industrial temperature. Running at 48MHz with 256KB Flash and 32KB SRAM, it provides the highest memory density in the STM32F0 Access line. The rich peripheral set includes CAN 2.0B, up to 8 USARTs (three with LIN/ISO7816), 2x SPI, 2x I2C, 12-bit ADC with 16 channels, 2-channel 12-bit DAC, and 2 analog comparators. The touch sensing controller (TSC) supports up to 24 capacitive sensing channels. The 12-channel DMA offloads data transfer from the CPU. With 88 GPIO pins (69 of which are 5V tolerant), it provides extensive I/O for complex designs.

The STM32F091VCT6 operates through five subsystems: (1) Cortex-M0 Core: A 32-bit ARMv6-M CPU running at up to 48MHz, executing most instructions in a single cycle. The 2-stage pipeline and Thumb instruction set provide efficient code density. The nested vectored interrupt controller (NVIC) supports up to 32 interrupts with 4 priority levels. (2) Memory: 256KB Flash for program storage, 32KB SRAM for data and stack. The Flash includes read/write protection. A 96-bit unique device ID provides device identification. 12-channel DMA transfers data between peripherals and memory without CPU intervention. (3) Communication: 8 USART channels with LIN, IrDA, and ISO7816 smart card support. CAN 2.0B Active with 28 mailboxes. 2x SPI at 18Mbps. 2x I2C at 1Mbps Fast Mode Plus. HDMI CEC interface for consumer electronics. (4) Analog: 12-bit 1us ADC with 16 channels and hardware oversampling. 2-channel 12-bit DAC. 2 analog comparators with programmable input/output routing. Internal voltage reference and temperature sensor. (5) Touch Sensing: A hardware touch sensing controller (TSC) acquires capacitive sensor data using charge transfer principle, supporting up to 24 channels for touch keys, linear sliders, and rotary wheels.
