The SS26T3G operates on the Schottky Barrier principle, where a metal-semiconductor junction forms a rectifying contact. Unlike conventional PN junction diodes, the Schottky barrier relies on majority carrier conduction, eliminating minority carrier storage and enabling faster switching speeds. The epitaxial construction with oxide passivation ensures reliable junction characteristics and low leakage current. When forward biased, electrons flow from the semiconductor into the metal with minimal energy barrier, producing the characteristic low forward voltage drop. Under reverse bias, the barrier prevents current flow until the breakdown voltage is exceeded.
