The STM32F207VGT6 is built around an ARM Cortex-M3 processor core with a 3-stage pipeline executing Thumb-2 instructions at up to 120 MHz. The ART Accelerator uses an instruction cache, literal cache, and prefetch queue to minimize Flash wait states, allowing the core to achieve 150 DMIPS at zero wait-state throughput. The multi-AHB bus matrix connects the Cortex-M3, DMA controllers, and Ethernet MAC to three independent SRAM banks and the Flash, enabling concurrent access without contention. The CCM (Core Coupled Memory) is a zero-wait-state SRAM accessible only by the CPU, ideal for critical interrupt handlers and real-time algorithms. The Chrom-ART Accelerator is a dedicated DMA peripheral that offloads 2D graphics operations (fill, copy, blend) from the CPU. The Ethernet MAC implements the IEEE 802.3 MAC layer and connects to an external PHY via RMII or MII interface, with hardware support for IEEE 1588 timestamping. The USB OTG controller includes an on-chip full-speed PHY and interfaces to an external ULPI HS PHY for 480 Mbps operation.
