The ADG849YKSZ-REEL7 from Analog Devices is a single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) analog switch in an ultra-compact SC-70-6 surface-mount package. Designed for low-voltage portable and battery-powered applications, the device features 0.5 Ω typical on-resistance at 3.3 V supply with only 0.12 Ω RON flatness, ensuring minimal signal attenuation and low distortion across the signal range. The wide 1.8 V to 5.5 V supply range supports direct connection to Li-ion batteries and 3.3 V or 5 V logic rails. The sub-nanoamp supply current (0.01 µA typical) preserves battery life in always-on applications. The break-before-make switching prevents momentary shorting between the two output paths during transition. The Y suffix indicates the automotive temperature range option, and the device is suitable for audio routing, sensor multiplexing, and power path selection.

The ADG849YKSZ-REEL7 uses a pair of N-channel MOSFET switches in a T-switch configuration to implement the SPDT function. The IN control pin selects between the two switch paths (S1 or S2 connected to D). When IN is low, the S1-to-D path is enabled and S2 is disconnected. When IN is high, the S2-to-D path is enabled and S1 is disconnected. The break-before-make circuitry ensures a brief dead time (typically 10 ns) between disconnecting one path and connecting the other, preventing signal shorting. The 0.5 Ω on-resistance is achieved through large MOSFET geometry and optimized process. The charge injection is minimized through symmetric switch design, reducing switching transients on the signal path. The low 0.12 Ω RON flatness ensures that the on-resistance varies minimally across the analog input voltage range, reducing signal distortion.
