The MCP6002-I/P is a dual general-purpose rail-to-rail I/O operational amplifier from Microchip Technology optimized for low-voltage operation from 1.8V to 6.0V. With a quiescent current of only 100uA per amplifier and 1MHz gain-bandwidth product, it is ideal for battery-powered and low-power applications. The rail-to-rail input and output capability maximizes signal dynamic range in single-supply configurations. The 8-pin PDIP package supports easy prototyping and through-hole assembly. The device features no phase reversal on input overdrive, ensuring predictable behavior in harsh environments.

The MCP6002 uses a CMOS design with complementary input pairs (both PMOS and NMOS differential pairs) to achieve rail-to-rail input common-mode range. As the input voltage moves from ground to VDD, the input stage transitions between the PMOS pair (active near ground) and the NMOS pair (active near VDD), with both pairs active in the middle range. The output stage uses a class AB push-pull configuration with rail-to-rail output swing. The 1MHz gain-bandwidth product is set by the internal compensation capacitor. The CMOS design provides very low input bias current (typically 1pA) and low quiescent current (100uA per amplifier).
