The MPX5010GP is the gauge pressure version of NXP’s MPX5010 series, measuring pressure from 0 to 10 kPa (approximately 40 inches of water column) relative to atmospheric pressure. With its high sensitivity of 450 mV/kPa and fully integrated signal conditioning, it is optimized for low-pressure sensing applications where even small pressure changes must be detected. The on-chip temperature compensation ensures ±5% accuracy over 0°C to 85°C, and the ratiometric output allows direct connection to a microcontroller ADC without external amplification. The single side port and atmospheric backside reference make it ideal for duct pressure and air flow measurement.

The MPX5010GP uses a silicon diaphragm with piezoresistive elements in a Wheatstone bridge configuration. The measured pressure is applied to the top of the diaphragm via the side port, while the backside is vented to atmospheric pressure for gauge reference. Even small pressure differentials (down to fractions of a kPa) deflect the diaphragm and change the piezoresistor values. The resulting bridge output is amplified by the on-chip conditioning circuitry with temperature compensation, producing a ratiometric output voltage. At full scale (10 kPa), the output reaches approximately 4.7 V. The high sensitivity of 450 mV/kPa provides excellent resolution for low-pressure measurements such as HVAC air flow and medical respiratory monitoring.
