The MPX5100GP is a gauge pressure sensor from NXP that measures pressure from 0 to 100 kPa relative to atmospheric pressure. The device integrates on-chip signal conditioning, temperature compensation, and calibration, providing a high-level analog output voltage that is directly compatible with microcontroller ADC inputs. The gauge configuration uses a single side port with the backside of the diaphragm vented to atmospheric pressure. This makes it ideal for applications such as HVAC duct pressure, medical respiratory monitoring, and industrial process control where the reference is ambient atmospheric pressure.

The MPX5100GP uses a silicon diaphragm with piezoresistive elements in a Wheatstone bridge. The top side of the diaphragm is connected to the measured pressure via the side port, while the backside is vented to atmospheric pressure. When pressure is applied, the diaphragm deflects and changes the piezoresistor values, producing a differential bridge voltage. The on-chip signal conditioning circuitry amplifies this signal and applies temperature compensation across the -40°C to +125°C range. The output is a ratiometric voltage from 0.2 V at zero gauge pressure to 4.7 V at full scale (100 kPa), proportional to the supply voltage for easy ADC interfacing.
