The MachXO2 family combines the flexibility of an FPGA with the instant-on capability and low power of a CPLD, making it ideal for control logic, bridging, and interface applications. The on-chip user Flash memory enables instant configuration without external boot devices. The internal oscillator eliminates the need for an external clock source in many applications. With static power below 30mW, the device is suitable for always-on applications. The hardened MIPI D-PHY interface support enables direct connection to mobile display and camera modules. Dual-boot and TransFR features support secure field updates.

The LCMXO2-7000HC-4TG144I operates as a flash-based FPGA: 1) Configuration: On power-up, the on-chip Flash automatically loads the configuration bitstream into the SRAM-based logic fabric in less than 1ms (instant-on), enabling immediate operation. Dual-boot capability provides a fallback configuration for field updates. 2) Logic Fabric: 6864 4-input LUTs can implement any combinational function of 4 variables, with each LUT paired with a flip-flop for sequential logic. The routing fabric interconnects LUTs with programmable delays. 3) Memory: 54 M9K embedded block RAM blocks (each 9Kbits) can be configured as single-port, dual-port, or FIFO memories. 26Kbits of distributed RAM is implemented in the LUT fabric. 4) Clocking: Two analog PLLs multiply, divide, and phase-shift input clocks to generate precise internal clock frequencies. The internal oscillator provides a standalone clock source.
