The ILD207T from Vishay Semiconductors is a dual-channel phototransistor output optocoupler in a standard SOIC-8 surface-mount package. Each channel couples a gallium arsenide infrared LED to a silicon NPN phototransistor, providing electrical isolation of 4000Vrms while transmitting DC or AC signal information. The device features a CTR range of 100% to 200% at IF=10mA, a high BVCEO of 70V (offering greater safety margin than the 30V industry standard), and UL1577/cUL safety approval. The SOIC-8 package is ideal for high-density applications with limited board space.

The ILD207T operates by converting electrical signals to light and back to electrical signals across an isolation barrier. When current flows through the input GaAs infrared LED, it emits infrared radiation that is detected by the silicon NPN phototransistor on the output side. The phototransistor generates a collector current proportional to the LED current, with the ratio defined by the Current Transfer Ratio (CTR). The ILD207T provides 100% to 200% CTR, meaning the output current equals or exceeds the input current at 10mA. The 4000Vrms isolation between input and output is achieved through an optically transparent but electrically insulating dielectric layer. The two channels are electrically independent, allowing simultaneous isolation of two signal paths.
