A switched contact detects plug insertion for power-source selection circuits. The 043701.5WR is a coaxial barrel jack connector with a center pin (positive contact) and an outer sleeve (negative/ground contact). When a matching 5.5mm x 2.5mm barrel plug is inserted, the center pin makes contact with the plug’s center conductor, and the outer spring contacts grip the plug’s outer sleeve. An additional switched contact is connected to the center pin when no plug is inserted and disconnects when the plug is inserted, enabling automatic switching between external and internal (battery) power sources. The right-angle orientation routes the cable parallel to the PCB, saving vertical space.
