The TB6569FG from Toshiba is a full-bridge DC motor driver IC with integrated MOS output transistors capable of delivering up to 4.5A peak output current from a supply voltage up to 50V. The device supports both direct PWM control and PWM constant-current control for precise torque regulation. Operating modes include CW, CCW, Short Brake, and Stop. The overcurrent shutdown threshold is adjustable via an external resistor on the VISD pin, and the shutdown time is adjustable via the TISD pin. Comprehensive protection features include overcurrent shutdown (ISD), overvoltage shutdown (VSD), thermal shutdown (TSD) at 170C typical, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) at 8.0V typical.

The TB6569FG integrates a full H-bridge power stage with control logic and protection circuits. (1) H-Bridge: Four N-channel MOSFETs form a full-bridge configuration that drives the motor in forward (CW), reverse (CCW), short brake, or stop modes. Built-in dead time prevents shoot-through current during switching transitions. (2) PWM Control: In direct PWM mode, the PWM signal directly controls the output switches. In constant-current mode, an internal current sense circuit monitors the motor current and modulates the PWM duty cycle to maintain the set current level. (3) Protection: The ISD pin allows external resistor programming of the overcurrent threshold. The TISD pin allows programming of the shutdown delay time. Thermal shutdown activates at approximately 170C junction temperature with hysteresis. Overvoltage shutdown protects against supply voltage transients, and UVLO prevents operation below 8.0V.
