The S25FL127SABMFI103 from Infineon Technologies (formerly Cypress Semiconductor) is a 128Mbit (16MB) FL-S series SPI Flash memory device operating at 3.0V with Single/Dual/Quad SPI interface support. The device features uniform 256KB sector architecture, 108MHz maximum clock frequency (432Mbps effective in Quad SPI mode), and advanced security features including password-protected sector locking. The deep power-down mode reduces standby current to 5uA for battery-powered applications. The ABMFI103 ordering code specifies 128Mbit density, SOIC-16 package, and industrial temperature range.

The S25FL127SABMFI103 operates as a serial peripheral interface (SPI) Flash memory. (1) The memory array is organized as 64 uniform 256KB sectors, each containing 1024 pages of 256 bytes. Read, program, and erase operations are initiated through SPI commands. In Quad SPI mode (QIO), data is transferred on 4 lines simultaneously, achieving 4x the throughput of standard SPI at the same clock frequency. (2) Page programming loads up to 256 bytes into an internal buffer, then programs the page in approximately 1ms typical. Sector erase clears all bits in a 256KB sector to 1 (0xFF) in approximately 1 second. The 100K cycle endurance per sector is managed by wear-leveling algorithms in the host firmware. (3) The advanced sector protection allows password-based locking of individual sectors, preventing unauthorized modification of boot code and critical firmware. The volatile and non-volatile protection bits provide flexible protection schemes.
