MSP430F6736IPN

The MSP430F6736IPN from Texas Instruments is an ultra-low-power 16-bit microcontroller from the MSP430F67xx metering family, optimized for precision measurement and smart metering. It features three independent 24-bit sigma-delta (SD24_B) ADC channels with programmable gain amplifiers for direct sensor interface. The integrated LCD driver supports up to 160 segments for meter display. With 256KB Flash and 16KB RAM, it provides ample processing power for complex metering algorithms. Ultra-low standby current (1.5uA with RTC active) enables long battery life.

The MSP430F6736IPN is based on the 16-bit MSP430 RISC architecture. The SD24_B sigma-delta ADC channels use oversampling and decimation to achieve 24-bit resolution, with each channel supporting differential inputs and programmable gain (1x to 32x). This enables direct measurement of current shunt and voltage divider outputs in metering applications. The LCD driver generates segment and common drive waveforms for multiplexed LCD displays. The RTC operates independently in low-power modes. The CPU wakes from standby in less than 5us for responsive event-driven operation.
