The MAX4634EUB+ from Analog Devices (Maxim Integrated) is a quad SPDT (4-channel single-pole/double-throw) analog switch with ultra-low 0.8 Ohm maximum on-resistance. The four independent SPDT switches can route up to 4 analog signals between two destinations each, making the device ideal for signal routing, multiplexing, and gain selection in data acquisition systems. The rail-to-rail analog signal handling allows switching signals from V- to V+. The 60 ns switching speed supports high-speed signal routing. The break-before-make architecture prevents momentary short-circuits during switching. The low 30 pC charge injection minimizes glitch energy when switching, important for precision data acquisition. The uMAX-10 (MSOP-10) package provides a compact footprint.

The MAX4634EUB+ uses enhancement-mode N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs connected in parallel (N+P T-switch) for each switch element. The parallel N+P configuration provides the low 0.8 Ohm on-resistance across the full rail-to-rail signal range: when the analog signal is near V+, the P-channel FET has the lowest RON; when near V-, the N-channel FET dominates. The gate drive for each FET is derived from the supply rails with level shifters to ensure full enhancement over the entire signal range. The SPDT configuration consists of two T-switches per channel, one connected to the normally-closed (NC) terminal and one to the normally-open (NO) terminal. The break-before-make circuit ensures that the NC switch opens before the NO switch closes, preventing signal short-circuiting. The 30 pC charge injection is the net charge transferred from the control input to the analog output during switching, which appears as a voltage glitch on the signal.
