The AP7365-33WG-7 from Diodes Incorporated is a 600 mA low-dropout linear regulator providing a fixed 3.3 V output with only 35 uA typical quiescent current. The device features 65 dB PSRR at 1 kHz, effectively rejecting input ripple from switching pre-regulators. The 300 mV typical dropout voltage at full load allows operation from a 3.6 V Li-ion battery down to end-of-discharge. An enable pin allows logic-controlled on/off switching for power sequencing. Internal protection includes current limiting (1.4 A typical), short-circuit protection (240 mA clamp), and thermal shutdown (145C with 15C hysteresis). The fast 200 us start-up time enables rapid power cycling for battery conservation. Stability is maintained with just a 1 uF ceramic output capacitor, minimizing BOM cost and PCB area.

The AP7365-33WG-7 uses a P-channel MOSFET pass element in a common-source configuration. The error amplifier compares a fraction of the output voltage with an internal 0.8 V bandgap reference (in the adjustable version) or an internal resistor divider (in the fixed 3.3 V version). The amplifier drives the P-MOSFET gate to maintain regulation. The low 35 uA quiescent current is achieved by biasing the error amplifier and reference at minimal current while maintaining adequate gain-bandwidth for stability. The enable pin controls an internal switch that disconnects the bias circuitry when LOW, reducing supply current to sub-microamp levels. The 65 dB PSRR at 1 kHz is achieved through high loop gain at audio frequencies. Current limiting uses a sense resistor in the pass element path; when the voltage drop exceeds the threshold, the error amplifier limits gate drive. Thermal shutdown uses a temperature sensor near the pass transistor that disables the output when junction temperature exceeds 145C.
