The ADUM141E0BRWZ is a quad-channel digital isolator from Analog Devices based on iCoupler technology that uses chip-scale microtransformers for galvanic isolation up to 5 kV RMS. It provides four unidirectional isolation channels with 150 Mbps data rate, 14 ns typical propagation delay, and 2 ns maximum pulse width distortion. Both sides operate independently from 2.375V to 5.5V, enabling voltage level translation across the isolation barrier. The device achieves very low power consumption of 1.2 mA per channel at 5V and provides common-mode transient immunity exceeding 75 kV/µs. Unlike optocouplers, iCoupler devices do not degrade over time and require no external drivers or EMI shielding.

The ADUM141E uses Analog Devices iCoupler technology which integrates microscale pulse transformers fabricated directly on the semiconductor die. Data transmission across the isolation barrier uses edge-based encoding: a rising edge on the input generates a pair of short pulses that are transmitted through the transformer and decoded on the output side. A falling edge generates a different pulse pattern. A refresh circuit periodically transmits the input state to ensure output correctness even when no signal transitions occur. The transformer isolation provides galvanic isolation rated at 5 kV RMS per UL 1577, with breakdown voltage exceeding 7.5 kV peak. The high common-mode transient immunity (greater than 75 kV per microsecond) results from the differential detection scheme that rejects common-mode signals. Both sides have independent voltage regulators and supply monitoring, ensuring glitch-free operation during power-up and power-down sequences.
