The SHT30-DIS-B from Sensirion is a digital humidity and temperature sensor in a compact DFN-8 (2.5×2.5mm) package. It provides +/-2% RH humidity accuracy and +/-0.3C temperature accuracy via an I2C interface. The wide 2.15V to 5.5V supply range simplifies integration with various MCU voltage domains. Multiple operating modes (single shot, periodic auto-measurement at 0.5-10Hz) provide flexibility for power/performance tradeoffs. The built-in heater helps recover from condensation. The SHT30 is a cost-effective upgrade from SHT2x with improved accuracy and wider operating range.

The SHT30-DIS-B uses a capacitive humidity sensor element and a bandgap temperature sensor element, both fabricated on a single CMOS chip. The capacitive humidity sensor absorbs or desorbs water molecules, changing its capacitance proportionally to relative humidity. A sigma-delta ADC digitizes both sensor outputs. An internal signal processing pipeline applies factory-calibrated correction coefficients for linearization and temperature compensation. The I2C interface provides access to raw and processed data. In single-shot mode, the MCU triggers each measurement; in periodic mode, the sensor auto-measures at the configured rate. The integrated heater can be activated to evaporate condensation on the sensor element.
