The device is AEC-Q101 qualified for automotive applications and features Class 3 (>16 kV) ESD protection per the Human Body Model. The flat handling surface allows accurate pick-and-place assembly. The 1SMB5913BT3G operates as a Zener diode in the reverse breakdown region. When reverse-biased voltage exceeds the Zener breakdown voltage (3.3 V nominal), the diode conducts current while maintaining a nearly constant voltage across its terminals. This voltage regulation property makes it suitable for providing stable reference voltages or protecting sensitive circuit nodes. The Zener impedance (ZZT = 10 Ohm at IZT) determines the voltage change for a given current change. In forward bias, it behaves as a standard silicon diode with VF = 1.5 V at 200 mA. The 3 W power dissipation rating is achieved through the SMB package thermal characteristics when properly mounted on a PCB with adequate copper area.
