The EN5339QI from Intel Enpirion is a 3A PowerSoC synchronous buck DC-DC converter integrating the inductor, MOSFET switches, and compensation in a 4x6x1.1mm 24-pin QFN package. The QI suffix denotes the QFN package. Operating from 2.4V to 5.5V input with a 3.5MHz fixed switching frequency, it provides up to 3A output current with adjustable output voltage from 0.6V to VIN. The integrated inductor eliminates the need for external magnetics, simplifying PCB layout and ensuring predictable EMI performance. With up to 93% efficiency and a complete protection suite, the EN5339QI is ideal for high-current FPGA and ASIC point-of-load power conversion.

The EN5339QI operates through four subsystems: (1) Integrated Power Stage: A synchronous buck converter with integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs and a proprietary thin-film inductor inside the QFN package. The 3.5MHz switching frequency enables the use of a small integrated inductor while maintaining high efficiency. (2) Voltage-Mode PWM Control: A voltage-mode controller with internal compensation drives the power stage. The output voltage is set by an external resistor divider connected to the VFB pin with a 0.6V reference. (3) Power OK and Soft-Start: The POK output provides a power-good indicator. Soft-start limits inrush current during power-up by ramping the reference voltage gradually. (4) Protection: Cycle-by-cycle over-current protection, under-voltage lockout, output over-voltage protection, and thermal shutdown protect the device and load from fault conditions.
