The EN5322QI from Intel Enpirion is a highly integrated PowerSoC step-down DC-DC converter that incorporates the PWM controller, power MOSFETs, compensation circuitry, and inductor into a single 4x6x1.1mm QFN package. Operating at 4MHz fixed switching frequency, it delivers up to 2A of continuous output current with efficiency up to 95%. The integrated inductor eliminates the need for external magnetic components and ensures predictable EMI performance. VID pin-selectable output voltages and dynamic voltage scaling make it ideal for powering processors, FPGAs, and ASICs.

The EN5322QI employs a voltage-mode control architecture with integrated power stage and inductor. **Power Subsystem**: The integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs switch at 4MHz, driving current through the integrated inductor. The high switching frequency allows the use of small MLCC input/output capacitors. **Control Loop**: A voltage-mode PWM controller with internal Type-III compensation ensures unconditional stability across the full input/output voltage and current range. The 4MHz switching frequency provides wide loop bandwidth for fast transient response. **VID Voltage Selection**: Three VID pins (VS0-VS2) select from 7 pre-programmed output voltages (0.8V to 3.3V) or an external resistor divider mode. VID changes take effect within one switching cycle for dynamic voltage scaling. **Protection Subsystem**: Undervoltage lockout (UVLO) prevents operation below minimum input voltage. Over-current protection (OCP) uses a hiccup-mode current limit. Thermal shutdown disables the converter when die temperature exceeds safe limits. The POK output signals when output voltage is within +/-10% of target.
