The PIC32MX795F512H-80I/PT uses the MIPS32 M4K core with a 5-stage Harvard pipeline achieving 1.31 DMIPS/MHz (105 DMIPS at 80 MHz). The MIPS16e mode compresses 32-bit instructions into 16-bit encoding for up to 40% code size reduction. The 32 shadow register sets enable single-cycle interrupt context switching without register saving. The multi-port bus matrix connects the core to Flash (with 256-byte prefetch cache), SRAM, and peripherals. The Ethernet MAC interfaces with an external PHY via MII or RMII, with dedicated DMA channels for zero-CPU-overhead packet transfer.
