The IRS2186SPBF from Infineon is a 600V high- and low-side gate driver IC in an 8-pin SOIC package. Using HVIC technology, it delivers 4A source/4A sink peak output current for driving N-channel MOSFETs or IGBTs. With 3.3V/5V logic-compatible inputs, 170ns matched propagation delay, undervoltage lockout on both channels, and dV/dt immunity up to 50V/ns, it supports bootstrap operation for the floating high-side channel and is designed for motor drives, inverters, and switched-mode power supplies.

The IRS2186SPBF integrates two independent gate driver channels: a floating high-side channel and a ground-referenced low-side channel. The low-side channel receives the LIN logic input through a level shifter and delay element, then drives the LO output through a high-current buffer stage. The high-side channel receives the HIN logic input through a pulse generator that creates narrow set/reset pulses. These pulses are level-shifted from the logic ground domain to the floating high-side domain via a high-voltage level shifter circuit. On the high side, a pulse filter removes noise, then a set-reset latch reconstructs the logic signal, which drives the HO output through a buffer. This pulse-based level shifting approach minimizes static power consumption in the high-voltage path. The bootstrap circuit (external diode and capacitor between VB and VS) provides the floating supply for the high-side driver. Undervoltage lockout (UVLO) monitors both VCC and VB supply voltages, disabling the respective output if either drops below threshold. The matched 170ns propagation delay ensures symmetric switching in half-bridge applications.
