It provides 8dB conversion loss, 19dBm IIP3, 10dBm P1dB, and 44dB LO-RF isolation. As a passive mixer, it requires no external DC bias or supporting components. Recommended for new designs.

The HMC412BMS8GETR operates as a passive double-balanced mixer. (1) The RF input (8-16GHz) and LO input (9-15dBm drive) are combined in a balun-coupled diode quad mixer core. The double-balanced architecture provides inherent LO-RF (44dB) and LO-IF (38dB) isolation. (2) The mixing process generates sum and difference frequencies at the IF output. The 8dB conversion loss represents the signal attenuation from RF to IF. The passive architecture means no DC power consumption but requires sufficient LO drive. (3) The 19dBm IIP3 enables handling of strong interferers without significant intermodulation distortion, critical for VSAT and microwave radio applications.
