The AD7606BSTZ-4 from Analog Devices is a 16-bit 8-channel simultaneous sampling ADC in LQFP-64. Each channel includes a programmable PGA accepting +/-10V or +/-5V inputs directly without external dividers. Four simultaneous sampling pairs (V1/V2, V3/V4, V5/V6, V7/V8) capture all 8 channels in a single conversion. The -4 suffix denotes 16-bit resolution (vs 14-bit for AD7606-4). Hardware oversampling (x2 to x64) improves SNR by reducing noise bandwidth. Both parallel and serial SPI interfaces are supported.

The AD7606BSTZ-4 operates as a simultaneous sampling 16-bit ADC. (1) Each of the 8 analog inputs passes through a clamp protection circuit and programmable PGA that accepts +/-10V or +/-5V ranges selected by the RANGE pin. The analog inputs are sampled simultaneously by 8 track-and-hold circuits at the CONVST rising edge. (2) The conversion uses a successive approximation (SAR) architecture with 16-bit resolution. Four dual-channel ADC cores convert the 8 inputs simultaneously in pairs. At 200ksps per channel, all 8 channels are converted within 3.2us. The oversampling engine accumulates multiple conversions to improve SNR – x64 oversampling adds 18dB SNR improvement. (3) Data can be read via a 16-bit parallel interface or a serial SPI interface. The parallel interface supports byte-wide reads for 8-bit processors. The busy indicator signals when conversion is complete. First data indicator marks the beginning of a new conversion sequence.
