The 1N4007-T is a 1A 1000V general-purpose silicon rectifier diode in DO-41 (axial lead) package. It uses a standard PN junction with P-type anode and N-type cathode. In forward bias, majority carriers cross the junction with a forward voltage drop of approximately 1.0V at 1A. In reverse bias, the depletion region widens to block current flow up to 1000V. Reverse recovery time is approximately 30us, making it unsuitable for high-frequency switching applications (use ultra-fast diodes for SMPS). The device is optimized for 50/60Hz line rectification in power supplies, battery chargers, and AC line voltage blocking. Maximum surge current is 30A for one 8.3ms half-cycle. Junction-to-ambient thermal resistance is approximately 50C/W in free air.
