La W25Q256FVFIG de Winbond es una memoria SPI NOR Flash de 256 Mbit (32 MByte) en un encapsulado SOIC-300 de 16 patillas. Soporta interfaces SPI estándar, Dual SPI y Quad SPI con frecuencias de reloj de hasta 104 MHz, alcanzando tasas equivalentes de 208 MHz (Dual I/O) y 416 MHz (Quad I/O) para una transferencia de datos continua de 50-MB/s. El dispositivo funciona de 2,7 V a 3,6 V con una corriente activa de 4 mA y una corriente de apagado inferior a 1 µA. La memoria está organizada en 131.072 páginas de 256 bytes con opciones de sector de 4 KB, bloque de 32 KB/64 KB y borrado de chip. El dispositivo admite cuatro modos SPI: SPI estándar (serie de 1 bit), Dual Output SPI, Dual I/O SPI y Quad I/O SPI. Con un reloj de 104 MHz, la E/S cuádruple alcanza una velocidad de datos efectiva de 416 MHz (50 MB/s), superando a muchas memorias Flash paralelas y utilizando sólo 6 pines. **Interfaz SPI:** El W25Q256FV utiliza una interfaz SPI estándar con pines /CS (selección de chip), CLK (reloj serie), DI/IO0 (entrada de datos), DO/IO1 (salida de datos), /WP/IO2, y /HOLD/IO3. En modo SPI estándar, DI transporta comando/dirección/datos y DO devuelve datos. En el modo Quad SPI, los cuatro pines de E/S transportan dirección y datos en paralelo, cuadruplicando el rendimiento. El modo QPI extiende el funcionamiento cuádruple también a la fase de comandos.

**Direccionamiento de 3/4 bytes:** La densidad de 256 Mbit supera el límite de 128 Mbit de direccionamiento de 24 bits (3 bytes). El dispositivo utiliza por defecto el direccionamiento de 3 bytes por compatibilidad y puede cambiar a direccionamiento de 4 bytes mediante la instrucción Enter 4-Byte Address Mode. En el modo de 3 bytes, sólo se puede acceder a los 128 Mbit inferiores. En el modo de 4 bytes, todos los 256 Mbit son accesibles con una dirección de 32 bits.

**Programación y borrado de páginas:** La programación carga hasta 256 bytes en un búfer interno y, a continuación, escribe la página completa en aproximadamente 3 ms (típico). Los sectores (4 KB) se borran en aproximadamente 400 ms, los bloques (32/64 KB) en 800 ms/2 s, y todo el chip en aproximadamente 200 s. **Estado y protección:** Dos registros de estado (SR1, SR2) controlan la protección contra escritura, la activación de cuádruples y el modo de dirección.
