The RT9193-33GB from Richtek is a 300mA low-dropout linear regulator providing a fixed 3.3V output in a compact SOT-23-5 package. With only 250mV dropout at full 300mA load, it operates from inputs as low as 3.55V. The low 65uA quiescent current and 0.1uA shutdown current make it excellent for battery-powered applications. The enable pin allows the device to be turned off when not needed. Short-circuit and thermal protection ensure reliability. The device is stable with a small ceramic output capacitor, saving board space. It is a popular choice for 3.3V MCU and wireless module power in IoT and portable designs.

The RT9193-33GB uses a P-channel MOSFET pass element in a low-dropout configuration. The error amplifier compares the output voltage (through an internal resistor divider) with a precision bandgap reference and drives the PMOS gate to maintain regulation. The PMOS pass element allows dropout as low as 250mV because the gate can be driven to ground. The enable pin controls the internal bias circuitry; when LOW, the device enters shutdown mode drawing only 0.1uA. Current limiting protects against output shorts, and thermal shutdown disables the pass transistor when junction temperature exceeds approximately 150C. The device requires a 1uF or larger ceramic output capacitor for stability.
