The Micro Crystal CM7V-T1A is an ultra-low-profile SMD tuning fork quartz crystal resonator operating at the standard 32.768kHz frequency. With a maximum height of only 0.35mm, it is one of the thinnest kHz crystals on the market, making it ideal for space-constrained and ultra-thin electronic devices. The crystal is housed in a hermetically sealed ceramic package with metal lid using gold-tin preform, ensuring excellent long-term frequency stability with ±3ppm per year aging. The 6pF load capacitance option supports low-power RTC oscillator designs. The CM7V-T1A features exceptional mechanical robustness with 5000g shock resistance and 20g vibration resistance, suitable for demanding wearable and portable applications. Manufactured in Switzerland by Micro Crystal AG, the device is 100% Pb-free and RoHS-compliant.

The CM7V-T1A crystal operates using the flexural (tuning fork) vibration mode of a quartz crystal resonator. When an AC voltage is applied across the crystal terminals at or near its natural resonant frequency of 32.768kHz, the tuning fork tines vibrate in anti-phase through the piezoelectric effect. The quartz’s extremely high Q factor (Quality factor) ensures that the oscillation frequency is highly stable and precisely determined by the physical dimensions of the crystal element. The frequency-temperature characteristic follows a parabolic curve centered at the turnover temperature (25±5°C) with a coefficient of approximately -0.035ppm/°C², meaning the frequency decreases symmetrically as temperature moves away from the turnover point. In a typical RTC oscillator circuit, the crystal is paired with an inverting amplifier and two load capacitors (CL = 6pF), forming a Pierce oscillator that generates a stable 32.768kHz clock reference.
