It provides a cost-effective solution for converting USB to a standard UART serial port, with data rates up to 2 Mbps. The device integrates a 3.3 V LDO regulator that can be powered directly from the USB 5 V supply, simplifying external component requirements. It supports full modem handshake signals (RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD, RI) and configurable UART parameters (data bits, stop bits, parity). WCH provides free Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers for Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android, enabling rapid integration into existing serial communication software.

The CH9102F operates as a USB-to-UART protocol bridge: (1) USB Interface — the device enumerates as a USB CDC-ACM device (Virtual COM Port), receiving USB data packets from the host computer at USB full-speed (12 Mbps); (2) Protocol Conversion — the USB data is unpacked from CDC-ACM frames and converted to standard UART format (configurable baud rate up to 2 Mbps, data/stop/parity bits); (3) UART Transmit/Receive — converted data is shifted out on the TX pin with the configured UART timing, while received data on the RX pin is packed into USB frames and sent to the host; (4) Flow Control — hardware flow control signals (RTS/CTS, DTR/DSR) are mapped between USB control signals and UART handshake pins for reliable data transfer at high baud rates.
