The TPS82085SILR is a 3A high-efficiency step-down converter in a MicroSiP power module package with an integrated inductor. Based on TIs DCS-Control topology, it delivers up to 95% efficiency with a 2.4MHz switching frequency. The device supports an input voltage range of 2.5V to 6V and provides an adjustable output from 0.8V to VIN. The integrated inductor eliminates the need for external inductor selection and simplifies PCB layout. The module automatically enters power save mode at light loads, reducing quiescent current to just 17uA. Protection features include hiccup short-circuit protection, thermal shutdown, and undervoltage lockout.

The TPS82085SILR employs DCS-Control (Direct Control with Seamless transition into Power Save Mode) topology, which combines the advantages of hysteretic, voltage, and current mode control. In PWM mode, the converter operates at a nominal 2.4MHz switching frequency for medium to heavy loads. As load decreases, the device seamlessly transitions to Power Save Mode (PSM), reducing switching frequency and minimizing quiescent current. The 100% duty cycle mode allows the high-side MOSFET to remain on continuously, minimizing the input-to-output voltage differential. Integrated soft-start prevents excessive inrush current, while the power good (PG) pin provides output voltage monitoring.
