The 0451003.MRL is a 3A 250VAC slow-blow (time-lag) ceramic fuse from Littelfuse in the standard 5x20mm cylindrical package. It is the 3A version of the 0451005.MRL (5A), sharing the same ceramic body construction and slow-blow time-current characteristic profile. The slow-blow characteristic allows short-duration inrush currents (typically 5-10x rated current for 10-100ms, such as transformer magnetizing inrush or capacitor charging) without nuisance blowing, while still providing overcurrent protection for sustained faults. The time-current characteristic: 3A (rated) = no blow; 4.5A (150%) = blows in >60 seconds; 6A (200%) = blows in 0.5-5 seconds; 15A (500%) = blows in 0.05-0.2 seconds. The ceramic body provides arc-quenching and mechanical integrity during fault interruption. The breaking capacity is 100A at 250VAC. The cold resistance is approximately 120mOhm (higher than the 5A version due to thinner fuse element), resulting in 1.08W dissipation at rated current. The 3A rating is commonly used for smaller power supplies, instrumentation, and control circuits where the steady-state current is 1.5-2.5A with occasional surges. The MRL suffix specifies IEC 60127-2 Sheet III time-lag characteristic.
