The 0218.500MXP from Littelfuse is a 500mA 250V fast-acting radial leaded fuse for overcurrent protection in electronic circuits.

The 0218.500MXP is a 500mA 250V fast-acting radial-leaded fuse from Littelfuse (TE5 series). The fuse element is a short length of fine wire or stamped metal strip with a carefully controlled cross-section, designed to melt when current exceeds the rated value. Fast-acting (also called quick-blow) fuses have no intentional time delay: the element melts as soon as the I2t (melting integral) threshold is exceeded. At 500mA rated current, the fuse carries the load indefinitely. At 200% rated current (1A), the fuse typically opens in under 5 seconds. At 1000% rated current (5A), it opens in under 0.1 seconds. The ceramic tube body (vs. glass) provides better arc suppression during high-current faults, preventing fire hazard. The radial leads allow direct PCB mounting. The 250VAC rating means the fuse can safely interrupt fault currents at mains voltage levels without sustaining an arc.
