USB2517-JZX

The USB2517-JZX from Microchip is a 7-port USB 2.0 hub controller providing high-speed (480Mbps), full-speed (12Mbps), and low-speed (1.5Mbps) USB connectivity. It integrates a transaction translator for each downstream port, allowing concurrent full-speed and low-speed transactions without blocking the high-speed upstream bus. The hub supports per-port power switching and over-current detection, enabling granular power management. Configuration via SMBus or external EEPROM allows customization of VID/PID and port behavior.

The USB2517-JZX operates as a USB 2.0 hub, managing data flow between the upstream host and 7 downstream USB devices. Each downstream port has its own transaction translator (MTT), which converts high-speed USB transactions into full-speed or low-speed transactions for legacy devices. The hub handles USB enumeration, power management, and over-current protection for each downstream port independently. An external EEPROM or SMBus interface configures hub parameters including vendor/product IDs and port-specific settings.
