The TXB0102DCUR from Texas Instruments is a 2-bit bidirectional voltage-level translator with automatic direction sensing, eliminating the need for direction control signals. The A port supports 1.2V to 3.6V and the B port supports 1.65V to 5.5V (VCCA must not exceed VCCB), enabling universal translation between any combination of 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V logic domains. The device supports data rates up to 100Mbps with push-pull topology and features +/-15kV HBM ESD protection on the B port. The VCC isolation feature places all outputs in high-impedance state when either supply is grounded, and the OE pin allows output disable. The 4uA maximum supply current makes it suitable for battery-powered applications.

The TXB0102DCUR operates as an auto-direction-sensing bidirectional voltage-level translator. (1) Each channel has two edge-rate-accelerated drivers connected back-to-back between the A and B ports. When one port drives a logic level, the auto-direction circuit detects the edge and enables the driver in the translating direction while placing the opposite driver in a high-impedance monitor state. (2) The edge-rate accelerator briefly boosts the drive current during transitions to overcome the parasitic capacitance of the bidirectional node, then reduces to a weak holding current to avoid bus contention. (3) The VCC isolation feature monitors both supply rails: if either VCCA or VCCB drops below the operational threshold, all output drivers are disabled to prevent backflow current. The OE pin referenced to VCCA allows the host controller to disable all outputs.
