The TPS62175DQCR is a Texas Instruments high-efficiency synchronous step-down DC/DC converter based on DCS-Control topology. It supports 4.75 V to 28 V input and up to 500 mA output current with adjustable output from 1 V to 6 V. The sleep mode reduces quiescent current from 22 uA (normal) to 4.8 uA, increasing efficiency by up to 20% at very light loads. The 1 MHz fixed switching frequency allows small inductor and capacitor sizes. DCS-Control provides fast transient response with seamless transition between PWM and power-save modes. The 100% duty cycle mode maintains regulation when input approaches output voltage. Power-good output enables power sequencing, and active output discharge ensures clean shutdown. The 2×3 mm 10-pin WSON package minimizes board space.

The TPS62175 uses DCS-Control (Direct Control with Seamless transition), a proprietary TI topology combining constant on-time PWM control with a comparator-based output regulation loop. In PWM mode, the high-side MOSFET turns on for a fixed on-time (adjusted by VIN), then the synchronous low-side MOSFET turns on until the inductor current reaches zero (power save) or the next cycle begins. At light loads, the device enters pulse-frequency modulation (PFM) power-save mode, skipping switching cycles to reduce switching losses. In sleep mode (SLEEP pin low), IQ drops to 4.8 uA by disabling non-essential circuits while maintaining output regulation with reduced dynamic performance. DCS-Control achieves fast transient response because the comparator directly controls the switching without an error amplifier bandwidth limitation.
