The TPS560200DBVR operates using the D-CAP2 control mode with four key subsystems: (1) The adaptive on-time controller generates the high-side MOSFET gate drive pulses with an on-time proportional to the output-to-input voltage ratio, maintaining a pseudo-fixed 600 kHz switching frequency. A feedback comparator monitors the output voltage via the VSENSE pin and triggers on-time pulses when the output falls below the reference threshold, providing fast transient response. (2) The integrated power stage contains a 0.95 ohm high-side N-channel MOSFET and a 0.33 ohm low-side N-channel MOSFET, with bootstrap circuitry for high-side gate drive. The low-side MOSFET enables synchronous rectification for high efficiency. (3) The advanced Eco-mode controller monitors the inductor current through the low-side MOSFET RDS(on). When the load current decreases below the Eco-mode threshold, the converter transitions from continuous PWM to pulse-skipping DCM operation, reducing switching losses and improving light-load efficiency. (4) The protection circuitry includes cycle-by-cycle valley current limiting, output undervoltage detection with 7 us delay before hiccup, and thermal shutdown at 170°C.
