The TPS2549IRTERQ1 operates as an integrated USB charging port controller and high-side power switch. Key subsystems include: (1) USB Charging Controller – detects the attached device type and applies the appropriate D+/D- voltage divider scheme to signal the correct charging current; (2) High-Side Power Switch – a 70mOhm N-channel MOSFET with charge pump gate driver controls power delivery to the USB port; (3) Cable Droop Compensation – monitors output current and adjusts the regulation voltage to compensate for IR drop in the USB cable; (4) Current Limiting – adjustable current limit protects against overcurrent conditions with foldback during faults; (5) Protection Logic – includes thermal shutdown, reverse current blocking, and undervoltage lockout.
