The TPS22929DDBVT from Texas Instruments is a 1.8A load switch with controlled turn-on and Quick Output Discharge in a SOT-23-6 (DBV) package. Operating from 1.4V to 5.5V, the N-channel MOSFET switch provides 115mOhm maximum on-resistance at 5V. The controlled slew-rate turn-on of 700us typical limits inrush current into capacitive loads, preventing voltage droops on the input rail. The Quick Output Discharge (QOD) feature connects a 150 Ohm internal resistor from output to ground when the switch is off, ensuring the output rail discharges quickly for predictable power-down sequencing. Undervoltage lockout (UVLO) keeps the switch off when the input voltage is below the threshold, and reverse current protection prevents current flow from output to input.

The TPS22929DDBVT uses an N-channel MOSFET with charge pump and controlled turn-on. (1) N-Channel Switch: An N-channel MOSFET provides the low 115mOhm on-resistance. A charge pump generates the gate voltage above VIN to fully enhance the MOSFET. (2) Controlled Turn-On: When EN goes high, the gate voltage is ramped gradually over 700us, limiting the inrush current into the load capacitance. This controlled slew rate prevents voltage droops on the input rail. (3) QOD: When the switch turns off, an internal 150 Ohm resistor connects the output to ground, discharging the output capacitance. This ensures the output rail reaches 0V quickly for predictable power-down behavior. (4) UVLO: When VIN drops below the UVLO threshold (approximately 1.2V), the switch is forced off regardless of EN state. (5) Reverse Current Protection: An internal comparator detects when VOUT > VIN and turns off the switch to prevent reverse current flow.
