It operates at 130kHz switching frequency and is designed for 4-10W (230VAC) or 3.5-6.5W (85-265VAC universal) flyback converters with simple ON/OFF control.

The TNY255PN from Power Integrations is a TinySwitch off-line switcher with integrated 700V MOSFET, 130kHz operation, and simple ON/OFF control for 4-10W flyback power supplies.

The TNY255 operates in a simple ON/OFF control scheme. The ENABLE (EN) pin is sampled at each clock cycle. If EN is low, the MOSFET turns on for that cycle; if high, the MOSFET skips the cycle. This provides regulation without needing loop compensation. The device self-powers from the DRAIN pin through an internal high-voltage current source, eliminating the need for a bias winding.
